All About the Mission - November 8
Serving as the voice for business means developing relationships with a wide variety of elected officials and we are excited to see the positive election results for many incumbent members of our state delegation and board of education. Incumbents that retained their seats in the Georgia Senate include Senator Harold Jones, Senator Max Burns and Senator Lee Anderson. All three of these senators have worked with the Chamber for many years and we look forward to the opportunity of continuing that relationship.
In the Georgia House, we have just one new member who we welcome to the delegation and that will be Lynn Gladney, representing District 130. Ms. Gladney assumes the redistricted seat formerly held by Representative Sheila Nelson who served since 2017. Representative incumbents serving again in the Augusta Region delegation include Rep. Gloria Frazier, Rep. Brian Prince, Rep. Mark Newton, Rep. Barry Fleming and Rep. Jodi Lott. We extend our congratulations to all of these members of the Georgia General Assembly and look forward to continuing the important state policy conversations that our region depends on for continued success.
The Richmond County Board of Education will see 1 new member joining their Board who is Tyrique Robinson representing District 6. Board of Education incumbents who had successful reelections include Venus Cain, Charlie Walker and Walter Eubanks. The Chamber’s Business Education Advisory Council depends on both the Superintendent and Board of Education of the Richmond County School System to continue the partnership between business and public education that produces positive results such as the Students2Work Program and the Talent2Work career platform.
On behalf of the Chamber, we look forward to continuing the great partnerships we have developed with our elected officials and we thank them for their leadership and community service.
