Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Congratulates Dr. Jermaine Whirl on Being Named Sole Finalist for President of Savannah State University
Augusta, GA (February 6, 2025) – The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Jermaine Whirl, 2025 Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, on being named the sole finalist for the presidency of Savannah State University (SSU).
Dr. Whirl, who has served as President of Augusta Technical College since 2020 and as a member of the Chamber Board of Directors since 2021, has been a transformative leader in higher education, driving innovation, workforce development, and economic growth. His impact at Augusta Technical College has been marked by record enrollment increases and strengthened community partnerships, positioning students for success in today’s evolving job market.

As Dr. Whirl prepares for this new chapter, the Chamber also looks ahead to a seamless transition in leadership. Chair-Elect Kimberly Wilder, an attorney at Davis, Chapman, & Wilder, LLC, will step into the role of Board Chair on March 1st, continuing the Chamber’s mission to support business growth and community prosperity.
