June Women In Business
June Women in Business provides an inside look
at military families moving to our region
Join the Augusta Metro Chamber and presenting sponsor Spherion on Tuesday, June 19 for Women in Business, ‘Joining the Augusta Community: An inside look at military families moving to our region.’ The program will bring into focus more about the experience and perspective of military families moving to the Augusta Region and joining our community, school systems and workforce. Fort Gordon is the CSRA's largest employer, not including the accompanying spouses and families, with a total estimated economic impact over $2.4B annually. With the anticipated further growth of Fort Gordon and the Cyber Center of Excellence bringing in 1,200 more service members in the next 2 years, that impact will continue to expand. Guest speaker Ann M. Morrison, an Army wife for over 30 years, will share her perspective on expectations from those personnel and families joining our region, and how the community can welcome and support this growth.
Ann M. Morrison, wife of MG John B. Morrison, Jr., commanding general of U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence, Fort Gordon, is an accomplished non-profit and development professional. Mrs. Morrison honed her 26-year career bringing her professional skills to both military-related and civilian non-profit organizations while accompanying her husband at duty stations overseas and stateside and raising their four daughters. Ann’s extensive background includes positions both on military posts and bases and in the local communities, including Augusta Symphony, Military Child Education Coalition and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Greater Carolinas chapter). With a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and certificates in non-profit and fundraising management from the University of Texas at Austin, Morrison has served as adjunct faculty at the University of South Florida and Cochise College.
