Preparing for Tomorrow, Together at August Women in Business

In a 2019 Business Confidence Survey published by Georgia CEO, the majority of businesses stated a positive outlook on future business conditions, with 60% expecting growth in the volume of business. However, the most cited area of concern is the development of the future workforce pipeline, effective hiring methods and the retention of talent. Join the Augusta Metro Chamber and presenting sponsor Doctors Hospital, on Tuesday, August 20, for Women in Business, ‘Preparing for Tomorrow, Together: Education, Business, Workforce.’

 

The luncheon’s panel, consisting of Libby Hendley, Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina; Melissa Speight, Starbucks Coffee Company; Dr. Angela Pringle, Superintendent, Richmond County School System; Lisa Palmer, Augusta Technical College; and moderator Francine Burroughs, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, will discuss the synergistic relationship between regional educational institutions, internship programs and the business community in preparing for tomorrow by developing a local pipeline of workforce-ready individuals.

 

Libby Hendley is the Managing Director for the Professional MBA Program at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Lisa Palmer serves as Vice President of Economic Development at Augusta Technical College. Melissa Speight works for Starbucks Coffee Company in Augusta, Georgia as the Partner Resources Manager. Dr. Angela Pringle is the Superintendent for the Richmond County School System. The panel’s moderator Francine Burroughs is the Manager of Talent Acquisition and Development at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.

 

The August Women in Business luncheon will be held at the Legends Club and begins at 11:30 am. Tickets are $30 for Chamber members, $40 for prospective-members.
