Hear From The Man Behind the History of the Green Box Giveaway at Chamber’s Women In Business
The Augusta Metro Chamber and Peach State Federal Credit Union invite you to Women In Business on Tuesday, March 14 to hear from Shane Thompson of Windsor Jewelers – The Man Behind the History of the Green Box Giveaway.
Shane will talk about Windsor’s Green Box Giveaway, its vivid history and share some unique stories of female Augustans in honor of National Women's History month. Windsor Jewelers continues to tie in Augusta's rich history into its marketing efforts and uses it to amp up their sales and visibility. Guests will walk away from this month's Women In Business Program with more than just a history lesson.
Shane has managed the marketing efforts for Windsor for over 10 years. The Green Box Giveaway began under his tenure 6 years ago and has included 40+ historical sites and $124,380 prizes to date. Windsor Jewelers has been in business for 48 years and introduced the iconic green box in 1996. Each year, Windsor experiences 40K Green Box moments. Shane is a 3rd generation jeweler. His family’s legacy in the jewelry business began with his grandfather Felton Thompson working for Friedman’s Jewelers for 45 years and at the age of 18 Donnie Thompson, Shane’s father, became the youngest manager of a Friedman’s store in 1964. A number of years passed, and the Friedman’s family allowed the Thompson’s to purchase a single store from the mega-chain of jewelry stores and they grew that single store into Windsor Fine Jewelers - one of the top 10 largest independent stores in America.
The Women In Business Program begins at 11:30 am in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church of Augusta. Tickets are $35 for Chamber members and $45 for prospective members. Chamber members can purchase a corporate table of 8 at a discounted rate of $260. Advanced registration required at augustametrochamber.com. The registration deadline is Friday, March 10.
It is the mission of the Women in Business Committee to strengthen the business community of the Augusta region by providing programs that enhance the knowledge, success and leadership goals of working women at all stages of their personal and professional lives.
