Join the Augusta Metro Chamber and Dr. Jeffrey Ickes from Troy University to learn more about the ultimate existential question, "Who am I?” Are you the same person at work as you are at home? In which setting are you more stressed? In which setting are you more self-actualized? When, where, and with whom are you your most authentic and highest self? When, where and with whom are you your most defensive self? This talk will focus on how to actualize your potential across both settings by discovering and unlocking your inner spirit. Tips will also be provided for learning how to recognize, honor and appreciate different spirit-types (at work and at home) and how to help others actualize their own potentialities.
Ultimately the recognition, awareness and nourishing of your spirit and the spirits of others will align your inner “higher” SELF with your outer “social” self and make you a more successful and happy person across all settings.
Dr. Jeffrey Ickes has been a professor in psychology and counseling for over 40 years and currently is a Professor at Troy University. He is interested in bridging the gap between applied psychology and religion through teaching people spirit-based skills that will raise their self-esteem, enhance their relations, make them more productive, and ultimately create authentic happiness in life. He has recently published a book called “The Fruit Code: The Spiritual Shortcut to Loving your SELF and Others” and expects to publish a second book “Self-less actualization: Transcending our own needs.”
